Hyalite Canyon Backcountry Skiing

Hyalite Canyon is a 30-45 minute drive from downtown Bozeman, making it one of the most easily accessible backcountry ski locations to Bozeman! Hyalite Canyon is a renowned backcountry ski destination among locals and MAG is one of the only ski guide services permitted to operate in this spectacular drainage. The options range from peak ski objectives to powder stashes in the trees and meadows.

We are the only ski guide service permitted to operate in areas near Bozeman in the coveted Hyalite Canyon. With reliable snowfall from December through May, this area is renowned for its spectacular backcountry ski options for all levels of experience. All MAG guides are American Avalanche Association members, have professional avalanche and medical training, and many have AMGA certification in addition to years of first-hand experience in our local terrain.

If you do not have your own alpine touring skis, telemark skis, or splitboard, our equipment list contains information on local rental options!
Avalanche safety gear (beacon, shovel, probe) and backpack may be rented from MAG for $50/day. Rentals must be coordinated in advance as our inventory is limited.
*Rental gear should be picked up the night prior to your outing, to ensure it is ready for your trip.
